An historic Ipswich croquet club has officially opened at a new location after months of searching for the perfect venue.

Ipswich Croquet Club, which was established more than 100 years ago, has found a new home after being a mainstay at Fynn Valley Golf Club for many years.

The club, which has members aged 18 to 94, had been looking for new grounds for nine months before members set their sights on land on the outskirts of Ipswich.

The members officially opened the club’s four new croquet lawns on land to the north of Trinity Park in Bucklesham Road on Saturday.

Brian Hunt, the chairman of the club, said: “All members were invited, with about 40 being there.

“All brought something to eat so that all could mix, chat and meet new members.

“After my short speech, a toast was raised to the ICC. Then we had lunch and played on the new lawns.”
