A huge blue tent has been put up in Christchurch Park in Ipswich... but what is it there for?

One of the UK's largest Oktoberfest parties is heading to Suffolk this weekend, with several sessions planned for Friday 6 and Saturday, October 7.

In order to make way for the up to 6,000 people who will descend on Ipswich for the party, a huge tent has been pitched in the middle of Christchurch Park.

Organisers posted a video of the tent on their social media accounts, as well as aerial shots of the park which show how vast the big top is.

Inside the structure is a huge stage and lots of lighting equipment all set up ahead of the festivities on Friday.

Up to 2,000 people can attend each session, and there will be plenty of room for revellers to dance along to the Bavarian Strollers and DJ, the Oompah band booked for the event.

Those worried about the potential rubbish left behind at the park needn't worry; the company uses One Cup, so all cups used on site are reused or recycled, and party-goers are encouraged to buy a beer stein that they can take away with them.

Tickets are still available for the event via the Oktoberfest Ipswich website.
