A 21-year-old man accused of dropping a package containing more than 90 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin over a fence in an alleyway in Ipswich has been convicted by a jury.

Before Ipswich Crown Court on Monday was Tyrone Reid-Poleron of Hertford Road, Enfield who had denied possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply in Ipswich on October 28 2019, possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply on February 24 2019 in Southend-on-Sea and being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine between January 1 and February 25 2019.

He was convicted of all the offences after a trial and will be sentenced on November 27 after a pre-sentence report has been prepared on him.

The court heard that that Reid-Poleron was seen by a police officer to drop a package containing wraps of heroin and cocaine over a fence in an alleyway in Waterloo Road in Ipswich in October 2019.

In February 2019 police arrested Reid-Poleron at a house in Southend-on-Sea after finding him in possession of two wraps of heroin and £510 cash.

During a strip search, he was found in possession of 11 wraps containing heroin as well as 5.9g of cocaine and seven wraps of cocaine which he removed from his anus.

In a prepared statement, he said he'd been given the drugs and taken to Southend after being threatened.

However, Richard Kelly, prosecuting, claimed his mobile phone showed that he was a "director " rather than someone being forced to deal drugs.

Giving evidence during his trial Reid-Poleron accepted he was involved in dealing drugs but said he wasn't acting of his own free will.

Reid-Poleron said had previously been beaten up by the man who was forcing him to deal drugs and he hadn’t received any personal financial gain.
