A teenage singer-songwriter from Ipswich has released her newest single – featuring a Hollywood actor from the Marvel films.
Nandi Bushell may only be 13, but she has added another famous name to her contacts book in the form of Josh Brolin, better known to many as Thanos in the Marvel Avengers movie franchise.
Brolin features in Nandi’s newest single ‘Sweet Nightmares’, which was released today (Friday, October 13).
Nandi worked with Brolin after a recording stint last year in the London studio Platoon.
Nandi was on the lookout for someone with a scary-sounding voice to take part in ‘Sweet Nightmares’, and so family friend and celebrity photographer Brian Bowen Smith reached out to Brolin on her behalf.
Brolin had already been following Nandi’s story, and was only too happy to support Nandi by providing the vocals.
The star even makes a brief appearance in the video, in a striking shot reminiscent of The Shining.
When Nandi released her previous single ‘The Shadows’ in September last year, she told the Ipswich Star that this song marked a new, more mature shift in her music.
‘Sweet Nightmares’ certainly continues this, shot in black and white with a spooky theme perfect for Halloween, but with a dance beat that stays in your head long after the song has ended.
“All my favourite things are a bit scary and dark,” said Nandi. “My favourite movie is Batman Dark Knight. My favourite director is Tim Burton, my favourite computer game is ‘Little Nightmares’. My favourite TV shows are ‘Walking Dead and ‘The Last of Us’, I have lots of favourite bands but I LOVE Slipknot, both Joey Jordison and Jay Weinberg are heroes of mine.
“I hope people like my video and can vibe to my tune. It’s fun, a little scary, a little catchy, and you can dance to it.”
