A business on the outskirts of Ipswich has received Suffolk's first prestigious King’s award.

Purple Line Limited, which manufactures accessories for caravans and recreational vehicles in Wherstead, has been awarded with the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise.

Suffolk Lord Lieutenant Clare, Countess of Euston, presented the award in a ceremony on Friday (October 13).

The award, now in its 57th year, was previously known as the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise with the new name reflecting the desire of King Charles III to continue the legacy of recognising UK businesses.

The programme is the most prestigious business award in the country, with successful businesses able to use the King’s Award's emblem for the next five years.

It was one of only 148 businesses in the country to be recognised with the award this year.

The presentation was also attended by other dignities from the King’s Award Office, mayor of Ipswich councillor Lynne Mortimer, her consort James Hayward, along with the entire team at Purple Line Limited.

The business won the category of excellence in international trade.

Purple Line was founded by managing director Jonathan Harrison in 2002. It now operates from three sites, including a main office, distribution centre and manufacturing facility at the Suffolk headquarters in Wherstead.

Mr Harrison said: “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, we have all worked tirelessly to build and grow our business and are extremely honoured to raise the flag in the first year for the King’s Award for Enterprise.

“We are grateful for the loyal support of our customers, partners, and the UK business community, who have helped us to achieve and exceed our business goals.

“As a company, we have always believed in the importance of international trade and have made it a cornerstone of our business strategy.

“All of this allows Purple Line Ltd and its sub-brands to continuously expand our business channels, develop new and nurture existing relationships and is the foundation to our outstanding continuous growth throughout the UK, Europe and rest of the world.”
