A new Christmas shop has opened up in Ipswich town centre.

The 'Christmas Supermarket' has opened its doors in Westgate Street ahead of the festive season.

The store is making an appeal for full-time staff members with previous experience to apply within.

Previously vacant, the shop, opposite Marks and Spencer, was formerly the Tessuti designer store that was owned by JD Sports but sold to the Frasers Group in December.

The Ipswich Tessuti shop closed down earlier this year, launching a closing-down sale only months after being taken over by the group, which owns Sports Direct, Flannels, Jack Wills, Game and House of Fraser brands.

The Frasers Group owns the former BHS site, which it bought in 2020 but has not yet reopened as a new department store.

It also owns the freehold of the former H&M site in Tavern Street, and previously said it planned to open a stand-alone Flannels store in the old H&M shop this year.
