The moment a huge abnormal load which is being transported through Ipswich had to be lowered to pass under a bridge has been caught on camera.

Suffolk Highways is helping with the escort of the 504 tonne vehicle from Ipswich Docks to Claydon.

The vehicle had to be lowered so that it could fit under the Ferodo bridge on Norwich Road.

An eyewitness said that the vehicle "only just" passed under the bridge with millimetres to spare.

It is the second of three abnormal loads being transported through the county.

The turbine is the largest of all three loads that will be transported, weighing around 332 tonnes and is 5.20m in width and 10.93m in length.

The vehicle reached its destination in Claydon at about 4.45pm on Sunday.
