A village postbox has enjoyed another fresh look courtesy of a serial crocheter who surprised her neighbours with "the ugliest zombie" for Halloween.

Lisa Wylie, who has been decorating Claydon with beautiful toppers, is back with her latest creation.

This Halloween village residents had a chance to spot scary Norman and his pumpkin friend on a post box topper.

Mrs Wylie said: “It's been a while, but I'm finally back. I've been busy caring for my children over the summer and growing fruit and vegetables in my garden.

"But it is definitely the time of year to find comfort in hooking up some snuggly yarn creations.

"I had nearly finished a mystery topper when I started to be asked by the villagers if I was planning anything spooky for Halloween. So I listened!

“I have hidden away a pretty fairytale topper for the spring and set out to make the ugliest zombie I could imagine, without scaring the littlest villagers too much.”

Mrs Wylie said that her inspiration to make a zombie called Norman was creations made by other crocheters and knitters who she follows online.

She added: “Norman lost his arm and the top of his head on his travels, but he had to send his Halloween wishes to the local folk.

“I love his T-shirt, which has the slogan 'Dead Happy’ and a not-so-happy smiley face.”

The Claydon mum-of-three said she was able to reuse some of the decorations from last year.

The Halloween topper was mostly made from donated yarn, thanks to villagers who support Mrs Wylie and her creations.

Mrs Wylie added: “I've even had a go at hooking with glow-in-the-dark yarn... total failure, as the main road never gets dark enough, but that's a lesson learned.

“I have just sketched out my ideas for Christmas, and the red, green and gold yarn is in order.

“The only trouble is I now need a bigger house to get in all the yarn!”
