Two teenagers were arrested for throwing eggs at a police car on an otherwise "peaceful" Halloween evening.

Across the county police said it was generally a quiet night for officers with only a few incidents reported by people on social media.

These ranged from the alleged destruction of Halloween decorations to throwing yoghurt in the Ravenswood and Kesgrave area.

A police spokesman said two teenage males were arrested following an incident of criminal damage and affray where eggs and "other items" were thrown at a police car in Lowestoft.

But despite all this, Suffolk police said it was actually a quieter Halloween than the year before.

Contact and Control Room Inspector Ali Newman said: “Overall the evening passed off peacefully and the vast majority of people enjoyed themselves safely and sensibly.”

In the run-up to Halloween, two parents reported pumpkin decorations outside of their homes had been smashed around Sudbury.

Katie Hudson, of Betty Cocker Grove in Great Cornard, near Sudbury, said her five-year-old was left 'upset and confused' after his pumpkin was destroyed in the run up to the big night.

24-year-old Niamh Hutchings, who lives in Applegate Mews, Sudbury, carved two pumpkins for her son, Reuben, to celebrate Halloween which, on Monday, were found smashed in the street.

She said: "It wasn't until later on in the evening, around 8pm, that I found out, and that was only because a lovely neighbour knocked to inform us and brought a new pumpkin for Reuben."

Ms Hutchings said she was "absolutely gutted" to find the pumpkins had been destroyed, particularly because Reuben is so excited for Halloween this year.
