A 27-year-old man has been given a suspended prison sentence after admitting theft offences in Ipswich.
James Bowskill, of no fixed abode, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, October 31 where he plead guilty to two incidents of theft from Sainsbury's in Upper Brook Street.
The incidents happened on October 5 and October 16, when Bowskill took alcohol making no efforts to pay.
Bowskill was identified as the suspect via CCTV footage.
He was investigated further by staff from Suffolk police’s Op Converter team and admitted to two further offences of shoplifting and seven offences of fraud by false representation between August 6 and October 29.
Bowskill was ordered to pay compensation of more than £200 to his victims of theft, and a further £490 to the victims of fraud by misrepresentation.
He was sentenced to eight weeks, suspended for 12 months, and handed a 40-day rehabilitation activity requirement as part of his suspended prison sentence order.
