A business duo has opened a new coffee shop to give those living on the estate a place to go and "have a coffee with a friend".

Hype Coffee Co has opened in Grange View in Mead Drive, Kesgrave.

The eatery serves a variety of coffee and cakes, as well as hot food such as breakfast items, paninis, pancakes and children's lunches.

Hype Coffee Co is run by business partners Matt Purnell, who has a property-building company, and Jaime Smith, who has run businesses previously.

This is the first coffee shop project the duo has taken on, however.

Mrs Smith said: "With money we had from selling a previous company, we bought two units in the area.

"We thought why don't we do a coffee shop together because there is nothing like it in our area.

"There's nowhere to go and have a coffee with your friends, it's a big estate with barely any amenities."

Hype Coffee Co is the only coffee shop along Grange View, and joins Kesgrave Kitchen, Cafe66, Chesnut & Rose and another near Tesco as coffee shops in Kesgrave.

The coffee shop opened on November 2 and has been a success in its first week.

Mrs Smith continued: "It's been very busy.

"Everyone has been happy with what we're serving, there's been a couple of points where we have had people waiting outside for tables.

"It's been in the pipeline for a few months, so it's good to finally be open.

"We've had to start from scratch building and designing the space and checking all the legal requirements and making sure everything was above board, so it's great to finally be open."

The shop is closed on a Monday, with a shorter day on a Sunday, which is in keeping with other units along the road.

It is open for takeaway drinks or dine-in and has indoor and outdoor seating.
