An utterly Dalek-table topper celebrating 60 years of a hit BBC show has appeared on a post box in Ipswich.

Ipswich residents rallied to find the mystery location of the intricate knitted design, with many finally placing it on the red post box on Meredith Road in Ipswich.

Created by Rhyl Toppers, the scene depicts the fourth Dr Who star Tom Baker exiting from the T.A.R.D.I.S., flanked by two Daleks in an out of this world creation.

The knitted topper is in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the BBC show, in which a time lord travels through time and space to solve crimes and world-ending invasions with his trusty companions.

David Tennant has been announced to return as the Doctor for the latest series, set to air on Sunday, November 26 at 8pm.

Fan favourite Catherine Tate will be at the Doctor's side as they battle the classic Doctor Who villian the Celestial Toymaker played by American star Neil Patrick Harris.

The Toymaker first appeared in the show in 1966, and was seen separating William Hartnell's First Doctor from his companions and forcing them to play childish games before they could return to the TARDIS.

Tennant is only set to star in the three anniversary episodes, airing between November 25 and December 9, before Ncuti Gatwa takes over the sonic screwdriver for the Christmas special.

Russell T Davis returns as Doctor Who showrunner and has teased: "Maybe this is a missing story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback. The only thing I can confirm is that it’s going to be spectacular, as two of our greatest stars reunite for the battle of a lifetime.”
