Hundreds of Ipswich residents gathered on Cornhill to take part in the magical Christmas lights switch on tonight.

Ipswich families got in the festive spirit together with the town’s mayor and the cast from this year’s pantomime, Sleeping Beauty.

The mayor said that switching on the Ipswich Christmas lights has been one of the highlights of her mayoral year so far.

“There was certainly no chance of anyone falling asleep for 100 years!

“The Ipswich Regent cast from this year’s pantomime Sleeping Beauty were absolutely fantastic and gave a real buzz to the event. Thank you to everyone who came along and made the evening such a success.”
