The situation regarding parking at an Ipswich town centre car park has been clarified.

Questions had been raised as to whether drivers could use the Buttermarket car park in Falcon Street for free, after some users reported they could park without paying.

The problem came as part of issues with the system previously used.

Initially a spokesman said that parking was free, but they have since clarified the situation.

"Today, working alongside our new car park operator, we have introduced a temporary flat rate charge of £2 for all customers using the car park," a spokesman said.

"This is payable via online or app and can also be made onsite or at home after they have left."
