An inquest has opened into the death of a man whose body was discovered in Ipswich's Chanty Park on Easter Sunday.

The body of Robert Turner, aged 62 and from Ipswich, was discovered in the park in Hadleigh Road on April 9 earlier this year.

An inquest into his death opened at Suffolk Coroners' Court in Ipswich on Friday, November 24.

The court heard that Mr Turner had been suffering from mental health difficulties.

After he went missing from his home address and his family had been unable to contact him, they had been out searching the town for him.

At about 8.15am on the morning of Easter Sunday, the police were called to Chantry Park, where they discovered Mr Turner, already deceased.

Speaking at the time, a spokesperson for Suffolk Constabulary said that there were no suspicious circumstances.

Speaking at the time, an eyewitness said they saw a number of police cars in the park when the body was found.

A section of the park had been taped off for several hours on that day.
