Those watching the Suffolk skies tonight will catch a glimpse of the Full Beaver Moon which will be visible between the clouds throughout the evening.

The penultimate full moon of 2023 has been spotted across the county after the sunset at 4pm.

A Full Beaver Moon is named as such as it marks the night that beavers settle into their lodges after storing up enough food for the winter months.

The moon appears larger than normal this evening and is a distinctive orange colour, but this is part of the moon illusion, which causes the moon to appear larger when lower on the horizon.

While technically the full moon peaked this morning, it still appears full this evening.

Cloud cover has been forecast across Suffolk and the UK so those looking to catch a glimpse will have to be patient and hope to spot the orange glow through the gaps in the clouds.
