A woman in her late 40s was raped by Mustafa Ramzan in Bury St Edmunds in April 2020 after the pair met for a pre-arranged meeting.

The court heard how Ramzan, 34, of Wenlock Mews in London, took the victim to a security lodge in Rougham Road and also robbed the woman of all her money amounting to £200, leaving just £10 behind.

Her phone was also damaged and she left the scene in a distressed and partially dressed state.

Ramzan was arrested on April 18, 2020, and charged with the offences.

DC Stephanie Rose said: "This was an extremely traumatic experience for the victim and one that she would have had to re-visit in the court room due to Ramzan's not guilty plea, an experience which would have only added to her trauma."

He was sentenced to 10 years in jail for rape with further sentences of attempted rape (7 years), sexual assault by penetration (6 years) and robbery (4 years), to be served concurrently.
