The first acts to perform at an award-nominated music festival in Ipswich have been announced, bringing an "exciting and eclectic" mix of music to five venues across the town.

After the triumph of Brighten The Corners Festival 2023, which saw the event nominated for a national award, the festival returns once again this year.

Early bird tickets for the festival - which is being held over Friday and Saturday, June 14 and 15, 2024 - sold out within 12 hours.

The initial line-up for next year's festival includes British tuba player and composer Theon Cross, indie rockers Coach Party, Mercury Prize nominee and Grace Jones collaborator, Dave Okumu with band The 7 Generations and indie trio The Orielles.

Speaking on the announcement, festival programmer Marcus Neal said: "We are so excited to be releasing the first names for next summer's festival.

"We aim to bring an exciting and eclectic line-up of new and emerging artists to Ipswich and this is just the start with many more names to be announced in the new year."

The two-day festival is held in various locations around the town, including St Stephen's Church, The Smokehouse, The Baths, The Corn Exchange and the Cornhill.

Joe Bailey, festival director, said: "We're really proud to be announcing our first wave of bands for 2024 with many more acts to come over the next few months.

"Our team are looking forward to building on the success of our festival in June where Ipswich came to life through live music.

"This is a fantastic, vibrant tastemaker festival to find your next favourite band."
