Adiley Pires was jailed for a total of 21 years for attempted rape and sexual assault in Ipswich.

Pires, of Kensington Road in the town, was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday after attacks on two women in October 2021 and December 2022.

The first attack took place on Sunday, October 17, in the courtyard area of the Foundry, The Mill.

Pires approached the victim on Ipswich Waterfront and tried to make conversation, before touching her bottom.

She told him to leave her alone, before chasing her into the courtyard area before he pushed her into a flower planter and tried to lift up her dress.

The second attack took place in December last year, when Pires approached his 17-year-old victim from behind and put her on the ground.

Pires then covered the victim’s mouth and hit her whilst pulling at her leggings.

The 25-year-old was found guilty of a total of four offences, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison and a further six years on licence.

Harley Barfield's killer

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been handed a life sentence for murdering Harley Barfield in Haverhill in January.

The attacker stabbed Harley, 16, as he was fuelled by jealousy by the victim being with his ex-girlfriend, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Harley died two days after the attack, which happened on January 9 in the Strasbourg Square area of the west Suffolk town.

The attacker, who had denied murder but was found guilty after a trial, was sentenced to life with a minimum of 17 years behind bars.
