A two-bedroom home has been refused permission in Spring Road.

It was proposed in October to demolish the storage facilities to the rear of number 1 Spring Road and to create a home adjacent to the property.

The new home would have shared a driveway with number 1 Spring Road, and would have had a living room and a combined kitchen and dining area on the ground floor. A bathroom would have been located on the first floor, as would two bedrooms.

However, Ipswich Borough Council rejected these plans on December 21.

In a decision notice explaining its refusal, the council said: “The proposal, due to its layout and overall amount of development, would erode the spacious character of this corner plot and result in a cramped and poorly designed form of development.

“The proposal would fail to reinforce the attractive physical characteristics of the local neighbourhood and the visual appearance of the immediate street scene eroding the open nature of the site at this prominent corner junction.”
