A new inflatable ball park in Ipswich has closed suddenly just hours after opening for the first time.

The new indoor attraction opened for the first time in the former Unit 17 nightclub in Cardinal Park on Saturday

A spokesman for Inflata Nation confirmed that the attraction has closed and had been evacuated.

UPDATE: INFLATA NATION REOPENS AFTER SUDDEN CLOSURE ON OPENING DAY

The spokesman added: "Earlier today one of the blowers at our new site in Ipswich failed, which led to a small part of the arena deflating slightly.

"While we temporarily suspended the bounce session, a strong smell of glue - which we believe was due to renovations elsewhere in the complex - became apparent.

"This meant some of the restaurants at Cardinal Park had to evacuate customers and we were left with no choice but to do the same.

"We are disappointed that the opening day of Inflata Nation Ipswich has been disrupted but the matter is out of our hands and we hope to be fully open as soon as possible."

Mellissa Jane Palmer, who was turned away from the venue, said: "I turned up for the 12pm slot and saw loads of people exiting.

"We had to leave with two very disappointed children."
