Fresh plans have been submitted for part of a Bramford spa which was severely damaged in a devastating fire last summer.

Riverhills Health Club and Spa, based at Clarice House in Bramford Road, reopened for business in August, just nine weeks after a devastating fire which broke out in its pool area in June and claimed about a quarter of its building.

Speaking at the time, bosses praised the efforts of Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, and said they were determined to get the spa up and running again in a matter of weeks.

In November, Riverhills appointed Colchester-based Cadman Construction to undertake the work of rebuilding the swimming pool and spa area.

Dave Courteen, Riverhills’ managing director, said: “We are delighted to be in a position where construction work can start and very pleased to be working with Cadman Construction.

“This work which, once completed, will allow us to once again offer a full package of activities to members old and new.

“Cadman is a local business with a long and trusted history, and we are excited to see the completed project.”

A proposal has now been received by Mid Suffolk District Council, which show the spa intends to build a standalone laundry building, amongst other proposed building works at the site.

Plans show that the single storey laundry room will be located a short distance from the main building of the spa.

A decision is expected on this application by the end of February.
