Traffic was building on the A14 just outside of Ipswich after a lorry burst a tyre.
The inside lane of the carriageway was blocked between Sproughton and the Copdock Interchange in the westbound direction on Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said officers were called to reports of a broken down lorry just after 3pm.

The lorry was unable to be moved so mechanics fixed the problem on the road.
The AA live map shows traffic on the road has cleared.
