A woman from Ipswich has said her time on a BBC show was an "amazing experience" as she now gets recognised while being out and about.

Natasha Lawrence appeared on the first episode of Gladiators, a reboot of the 1992 hit TV show, on Saturday.

The 41-year-old made her appearance on the show on Saturday night, with viewers tuning in from around the country to watch the game show.

She said: "It was a lovely privilege.

"You're nervous for it to come out because you don't know how you'll look on telly, but I love the way the show was put together and it was absolutely amazing.

"The feedback I have received has been phenomenal, it's so overwhelming.

"Everyone's comments have been lovely, I'm being recognised in the gym and the doctors surgery – people came up to me."

To get on the show, Natasha had to go through two rounds of trials, one in London, where they did exercises and physical activities so producers could see what hopefuls could do.

She then did another in Sheffield, which she went straight to from her holiday in Egypt.

Natasha said: "I was surprised to get through the trials.

"I just go to the gym, I don't have any extra sport or anything, so it was great to be chosen.

"It was the best experience of my life ever, it was so surreal.

"I'm an 80s baby, so I grew up watching Gladiators, I remember the themetune and things, so to be in it was amazing.

"I'm so blessed."

The show was broadcast on Saturday night, with 6.4million people tuning in to watch.

Natasha continued: "The producers called me to tell me that, and it was absolutely amazing.

"I'm seeing people on the streets and they are recognising me, and it's really humbling.

"It was one of the best experiences of my life."
