A top comic will be delighting book lovers this summer when he climbs aboard the iconic Orwell Lady to get you in the mood for this year's Felixstowe Book Festival.

The festival returns this year from June 26-30 but there’s a special event the month before, on Sunday May 12, onboard the iconic Orwell Lady.

Join the crew for a thrilling three-hour afternoon river trip and meet BBC Radio 4’s Robin Ince, the 2022 Author of the Year.

Robin will be sharing his exciting adventures in books and bookshops, as well as his fascinating encounters with astronauts and radio telescope experts while making BBC Radio 4's The Infinite Monkey Cage.

With his most recent book Bibliomaniac: An Obsessive's Tour of the Bookshops of Britain, described by The Times Literary Supplement as "a tonic," you'll be in for an inspiring talk.

Plus, the crew will be putting on a indulgent spread of scones with clotted cream and jam as you take in our glorious River Orwell.

Tickets are now on sale and if previous years are anything to go by, they will sell out fast.

The cruise will depart from Orwell Quay (IP3 0FS) at Ipswich waterfront, leaving at 2pm for a three-and-a-half-hour river trip.

There will be a talk by the author plus a book signing as well as commentary on the places of interest along the river.

You'll be back in dock by 5.30pm.

Robin’s books will be available to purchase onboard thanks to Woodbridge Books.

In June the festival will take place, once again, in the stunning Edwardian cliff top rooms of Harvest House on Cobbold Road in Felixstowe.

More details will be announced in the Spring but if you sign up to the Felixstowe Book Festival Newsletter you'll be the first to know. See www.felixstowebookfestival.co.uk
