An Ipswich Town fan is looking for changes to be made at Portman Road after she was fell on by an away fan.

Jo Peters was sat in the Cobbold Stand's lower tier during Saturday's FA Cup defeat to Maidstone United when she was fallen on by a man celebrating the visitors' first goal.

While the 51-year-old escaped serious injuries, she believes it could have been a lot worse.

"I am sore," said Ms Peters.

"There aren't any serious injuries, but to me there could have been. And it should not have happened."

It was the first time that Ms Peters, from Butley, has sat in that section of the ground, having supported the club for more than a decade.

After Lamar Reynolds opened the scoring for the visiting side in the 43rd minute, she heard a crash from behind her.

Ms Peters was then crushed forward after the opposing fan fell from the upper tier.

The Blues fan is wanting answers and safety action from the club, with a meeting set to take place on Wednesday.

She added: "I just want answers. I don't want a free season ticket. What I want is Ipswich Town Football Club to acknowledge that breach in safety.

"Okay, it was an accident, but it doesn't make it right. There needs to be safety precautions and they need to happen now.

"I just want to put this out of the way as soon as possible. I do want to be able to go to a game and have the normal, great experience.

"I am so glad nobody was seriously hurt. It could have been a lot worse."

Ipswich Town has said it "is investigating the issue thoroughly", while Suffolk police has confirmed the issue will be discussed at the next meeting of the safety advisory group.
