There were long delays on the A14 after a vehicle broke down near the Orwell Bridge.
Officers were at the scene of the incident on the eastbound carriageway south of Ipswich on Saturday morning.
According to the AA Traffic Map there were lengthy delays between the Wherstead turn-off and Copdock Interchange.
The delays cleared within a few hours.
