The owners of a thriving bubble tea business say they are looking forward to seeing the café flourish in a new pair of hands.

TeaMix in Museum Street first opened for business five years ago and became the first bubble tea shop in Ipswich.

It soon became so popular that its owners made the decision to move to its current location in Museum Street to keep up with demand.

Run by husband-and-wife duo Ian and Bernadette Robert, the café offers a variety of bubble teas and Asian breads, cakes, cookies and snacks.

The idea for TeaMix came about when Mr Roberts visited his wife in the Philippines and fell in love with the local cuisine.

They are now proud to have won the hearts of a diverse base of customers, with people from Japan, China and the Philippines regularly visiting the café.

However, Mr and Mrs Roberts have announced that after five years, they will be selling the business as the couple now have their hands full with their son, 19-month-old Kimmy.

Mr Roberts said he and his wife had always intended to manage the day-to-day running of the café between the two of them, with Mr Roberts preparing food and Mrs Roberts serving customers.

However, with parenthood taking up more and more of their time, the couple has decided that it is time to pass the mantle on.

“We’ll be sad to see it go, but hopefully, someone will be able to take it on, and keep it along the lines of what we always wanted to do in the first place,” said Mr Roberts.

He said that several people have expressed an interest in the business already, and that he expects to have handed over TeaMix by August.
