The year 1994 saw several big news stories take place in Ipswich.
Here is a nostalgic look back at life in the town 30 years ago including the demolition of Cliff Quay Power Station and the official opening of the Royal Mail sorting office in Commercial Road.
It was an end of an era when Cliff Quay Power Station was demolished after it was decommissioned almost 10 years earlier.
The power station was built in 1949 and dominated Cliff Quay for decades after the second World War.
It had a functional, utilitarian appearance – but still became a familiar landmark on the bank of the River Orwell.
It was then damaged in a devastating fire in 1982 and decommissioned three years later.
Also in this year, Ruth Rendell Mysteries, a TV drama which started in 1987 and aired for 11 series, was shot in Ipswich in 1994.
The series finished in 2000.
It was also the year that Ipswich Town player Bontcho Guentchev displayed his balls skills when he was officially opening the Ipswich Royal Mail Sorting Offices on Commercial Road.
