Protestors in Ipswich have taken to the streets in support of Palestine.
Members of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign arrived with placards and flags for the demonstration last Saturday outside the AXA Insurance building on Civic Drive.
The protest was held outside AXA because the group say that “AXA Insurance is a major investor in the Israeli banks which finance the illegal Israeli settlements”.
A spokesperson for the campaign explained why the public in Ipswich should rally to the cause: “Palestine Solidarity Campaign in Ipswich, like millions of people across the world, have decided we cannot stay silent in the face of Israel's unrelenting dehumanisation and killing of our fellow human beings; the Palestinians.
“This is why Ipswich should care and support the cause.
The spokesperson added: “This isn't a Palestinian problem, this is a humanity problem.
“Our hope is to help remind the world that the Palestinians are men, women, and children who have dreams and aspirations just like us.
“They have favourite foods, sports and hobbies just like us but they are denied their basic human rights which we take for granted.”
However, an AXA spokesperson said: “The AXA Group is committed to conducting business to the highest ethical standards.
“AXA’s investments comply with all applicable laws and regulations and respect all internationally recognised human rights principles.
“This is also the case for AXA’s investment in the Middle East region.
“AXA has no proprietary investments in any of the banks cited in recent calls for boycott.
