A sentencing date has been set for an Ipswich barista who has pleaded guilty to making and distributing indecent images.

Joseph Swift, 26, of Princes Street, was before Ipswich Crown Court on February 21 for sentencing after pleading guilty to one offence of making an indecent image category A, one offence of distributing a category A image, distributing a category B image, making a category B image and making a category C image.

Some of the more serious images related to babies the court heard.

However Swift turned up without any legal representation and had not received the pre-sentence report.

Speaking to the defendant, Judge Emma Peters said he faced "the real chance of going to prison".

Judge Peters said: “I don’t sense Mr Swift has really thought this through. I don’t sense he understands just how serious these charges are.”

She adjourned sentencing to March 20 so he could get representation and told him “you need to go and take this seriously”.
