Many people in the region will be getting ready for a spot of spring cleaning and a good way to get rid of unwanted items is by selling them at a car boot sale.

Car boot sales can also be a great place to bag a bargain or two.

There are many sales to attend across Suffolk throughout the year but here are five you should visit this spring.

1. Stonham Barns car boot sale

Where: Stonham Barns, Pettaugh Lane, Stonham Aspal, Stowmarket IP14 6AT

The outdoor car boot sale takes place on Sundays starting in March.

Traders can turn up on the day to sell any unwanted possessions or covered stalls can be pre-booked to guarantee a main field position.

It was recently announced the event will take place on Thursdays as well from the start of April.

2. Weeting car boot sale

Where: Sharp Boot Group, Lynn Road, Brandon IP27 0QN

The largest outdoor car boot sale in Weeting is organised by the Sharp Boot Group.

The traders sell a wide variety of products including speciality foods, stationary, clothes and antiques.

It takes place every second Saturday from March until the last Saturday in November.

3. Foxhall car boot sale

Where: Foxhall Heath Stadium, Foxhall Road, Kesgrave IP5 1LN

Taking place at the Foxhall Stadium the car boot sale starts up again on Sundays in March.

Those visiting the town can acquire new things or get rid of anything they no longer need.

It also takes place on bank holidays.

4. Kessingland car boot sale

Where: Whites Lane, Kessingland, Lowestoft NR33 7TF

Running for most of the year, the Kessingland car boot sale is located next to Africa Alive on the north-east coast of Suffolk.

The event has refreshments and toilets on site so you can spend the whole day searching for bargains.

It is held every Sunday from February until December.

5. Drinkstone Sale Trail

Where: Drinkstone Village Hall, Gedding Road, Bury St Edmunds IP30 9SZ

While it is not technically a car boot sale, Drinkstone Sale Trail is an annual garage sale where village residents sell all of their unwanted items.

Out-of-town visitors can hire stalls at the village hall and a map of the area will be provided.

The date of this year's event is yet to be announced but in previous years it has been held in May.
