A man from Ipswich has been fined £230 for speeding in his Jaguar while driving through a 20mph zone in north-east London.

Miles Norman Cole, of Christchurch Street in the Suffolk town, appeared before Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court on Monday, February 19.

The 64-year-old was charged with exceeding a 20mph speed limit in contravention of a local traffic order.

According to a court listing, Cole's Jaguar XF was recorded travelling at 27mph by a RedSpeed SpeedCurb system on August 2 last year.

The vehicle was being driven on the A104 Lea Bridge Road in the London Borough of Waltham Forest at the time.

Cole's case was dealt with through the single justice procedure, which typically deals with more minor summary offences that are not heard before a crown court.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined £230 by magistrates.

Cole was also told to pay a victim surcharge of £92 and costs of £90 – totalling £412.

His driving licence was endorsed with three points.
