Described as a man who "clearly had a sexual interest in juveniles", there were several incidents where Ian Butcher filmed children over the top of cubicle changing rooms and while taking a shower, with victims nude in numerous images.

The 55-year-old former Scout leader, of Woodbridge Road East, was jailed for 20 months for incidents relating to eight separate victims including six children.

He was also given a sexual harm prevention order and restrictions on his use of any device able to access the internet and store digital images.

Detective Constable Santiago Nield, from the Internet Child Abuse Investigation Team, said: "Ian Butcher was a person in a position of trust and in the majority of cases we identified, his offences involved a clear abuse of that trust.

"They all had their privacy violated, but in the case of the children also their trust and part of their childhoods too."

Adam Andrews

Ipswich Crown Court heard how Adam Andrews shook a 21-day-old baby boy in what his defence described as "a spontaneous loss of control" on June 28, 2018.

As a result, the victim was left blind and completely paralysed.

Andrews, 37 and of Raynsford Road in Great Whelnetham, had previously been found not guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent against the child in 2022 but was convicted of a lesser charge of grievous bodily harm without intent.

The mother of the baby boy said: "I have to watch my child deteriorate for what this man has done in a burst of outrage and anger.

"When I fall asleep every night my biggest fear is he will not wake up with me."

Andrews was sentenced to three years in prison.

Daniel Westbrook

Daniel Westbrook was described as a "selfish" driver who caused a crash which left a motorcyclist unable to walk.

On August 24, 2022, Westbrook overtook three to four cars and two cyclists while approaching a right-hand bend along the A1071 in Hadleigh.

A motorcyclist was travelling towards him and on impact was catapulted into the air and landed on his back, immediately losing feeling in his legs.

Westbrook, 59 and of Monks Eleigh, was arrested at the scene having made comments to other members of the public that he wanted to get home faster and was driving too fast and recklessly.

He was sentenced to two years and eight months imprisonment at Ipswich Crown Court.

Eduard Mucaj, 51 and from Albania, set sail from Den Oever in the Netherlands in the early hours of August 9, 2023.

Dutch authorities tracked the boat as it erratically sailed towards Lowestoft and two days later, Border Force intercepted the boat finding a dozen Albanian migrants, including an eight-year-old child, below deck.

Ipswich Crown Court heard how the yacht had no safety or navigational equipment and Mucaj was the only person on board wearing a life jacket.

Mucaj was sentenced to 32 months in jail.

Gladstone Allen

A victim was left with life-changing injures after being seriously assaulted by Gladstone Allen at a BP garage in Ipswich.

Thirty-two-year-old Allen, of Muntjac Gardens in Stowmarket, was found guilty of grievous bodily harm against Stephen Greaves and actual bodily harm again Aarn Tomlinson after attacking them on the corner of Norwich Road and Meredith Road on August 13 last year.

Mr Greaves was left with a "life-changing" brain injury after both him and Mr Tomlinson were knocked unconscious by one punch from Allen.

Sentencing Allen, judge Mr David Wilson said: "I'm afraid it's clear that the red mist descended and you were unable or unwilling to control your actions that night."

Allen was sentenced to one year imprisonment for actual bodily harm and three years for the gross bodily harm, to be served concurrently.
