An Ipswich woman has been acquitted of a fly-tipping charge after being accused of dumping rubbish near her home.

Jody Giles was charged with dumping documents identifying her and her address, and other items including a serrated knife and pair of pliers, in woodland near her home in Whitland Close in January last year.

She denied the charges before Suffolk Magistrates' Court in Ipswich on February 13, 2023, maintaining that a garden shed had been broken into and the items had been stolen.

Ms Giles later appeared for trial before magistrates in April and on October 4 last year was found not guilty of the charge, and the offence was withdrawn.

Ms Giles said: "I would like to thank family and friends for their support and David Allen the solicitor from Barricella Hughes Marchant Solicitors who represented me."

She added that she looked forward to the return of her property by Ipswich Borough Council
