A popular Ipswich pub beer garden can now accommodate drinkers in all weathers and serve pizza outdoors after their plans for a kitchen and gazebo were approved.

The landlady of The Woolpack Inn, Marita Hunter-Rodwell, applied to Ipswich Borough Council to create a new outdoor pizza kitchen and timber gazebo for outside dining in the garden behind the pub.

The council granted full planning permission on Monday, March 11.

According to the plans, the gazebo will accommodate customers in all weathers.

The pub, at the junction of Westerfield Road and Tuddenham Road, established the garden in the former car park area behind the pub during the Covid pandemic.

It allowed customers to congregate outside, and during lockdown, the pub began to offer homemade pizza as part of the takeaway menu with an outside kitchen area built for the purpose.

If the plans are approved, the temporary gazebo would be removed for a new traditional timber framed structure with three open sides, measuring 4 metres by 7.2 metres, divided into three bays.

The Grade II listed building dates back to at least the 18th century.
