Plans have been submitted to Ipswich Borough Council to build two new flats in the town centre, making use of redundant office space.

The flats would be built in the office space above Betfred and German Doner Kebab in 37-39 Westgate Street.

The prior approval application seeks the change of use from an existing office use to two two-bedroom flats.

The flats would have access through Westgate Street, and would have a ground floor landing, featuring both wall-mounted cycle storage for four bikes, as well as refuse sack storage.

Both flats would be equipped with two double bedrooms, a bathroom and a living/kitchen area.

The application states that the building would "benefit from the change of use to residential" and that it is "acceptable and complies with the requirements of the Town and Country Planning and should be approved by the Council".

Ipswich Borough Council will discuss the plans in due course.
