A much-loved pub and restaurant north of Ipswich is getting ready to open its new nine-hole adventure golf course which has been installed in its garden.

The Railway Inn in Westerfield will open its new golf course on Friday, March 29.

The course includes nine holes and features a variety of obstacles – including bunkers, water hazards, uneven courses and rocks.

One of the employees at the Railway suggested it to the managers, Abby Woods and Elle Snelling, who started putting the idea into action at the start of the year.

Abby said: "We thought 'why not?'

"We had the space and we are constantly looking to do more current things and make use of it.

"We're very family-orientated, so this is just something fun for people to be able to enjoy together with some nice food and drinks."

Elle added: "From talking to people who have heard we are having it, people are really excited.

"They can't wait to come down.

"I've had a 90-year-old lady saying she can't wait to get out there and play."

The course is designed for people of all ages, with different size clubs depending on height, and it has capacity for 40 people at once.

Tables will be dotted around the garden as well, so people are able to sit outside and have some drinks while they play.

This course compliments the function room which opened last year, with people able to book the function room out, which has its own bar, as well as golf at the same time.

The course will also be running from the moment the pub opens through to when it closes, with lights installed on the course.

For adults, nine holes costs £5 and 18 costs £6.50.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday over the Easter weekend there will be free golf to give people a taster between the hours of 11am and 2pm.
