A year on from his death, the family and friends of a man from Kesgrave who lived and breathed cars will come together in May to pay tribute to his life.

It has been almost a year since Ben Meader died from a rare form of cancer, but his legacy continues to live on.

The 25-year-old dad, son, brother and friend had been diagnosed with a mass behind his heart three years ago and was informed at the beginning of 2023 that chemotherapy was no longer working.

Ben was transferred to the Arthur Ranks Hospice, where he died on May 16 later that year.

Almost one year on, Ben’s friends and family are determined to continue honouring his life.

He was, said his family and friends, a team player, a hard worker and a fiercely passionate person.

He was determined to live his life by always doing what was right and tried to protect his loved ones from the pain of his illness as much as possible.

On May 26, Ben’s family will be holding a memorial car and bike meat at the Suffolk Aviation Heritage Centre in Foxhall Road.

The day is being hosted by Ben’s sister, Suzie Church, brother Ross Meader, Suzie’s husband Jake Church and Double Clutch UK.

Trophies for the top three cars are up for grabs, and there promises to be an ice cream van, a raffle, access to the museum and a live DJ.

Entry will be £2 for each car, with all funds going towards Cancer Research UK, the Teenage Cancer Trust and the museum.

All car and bike enthusiasts and their vehicles are welcome.

“We would love for you all to come along and join us to remember Ben, celebrate his life and love of cars and raise money for charity,” said Suzie.
