When walking your dog it is sometimes important to take a break for some well deserved refreshments.

1. The Woolpack

The Woolpack prides itself in offering real ales on tap every week including the option to get drinks to go with your takeaway meals. 

One person said: "Always lovely coming here, the staff are always really friendly, food is always excellent. Bonus that it's right next to the park so after a walk with the dog, it is good for a few cheeky drinks."

It is believed to be one of the oldest pubs in the town with tales suggesting there are smugglers' tunnels leading to Ipswich Waterfront.

2. Steamboat Tavern

Located in New Cut West the pub is renowned for its live music and constantly changing range of beers. 

The Steamboat Tavern has treats, fresh water and lots of attention for dogs visiting the pub. 

A reviewer said: "It's all the 'friendlies' you could think of: dog friendly, children friendly, large groups, football fans, scooter clubs and the jazz crowd."

3. The Greyhound

The Greyhound in Henley Road is praised by many as one of the best pubs in the town with its good food and service. 

On Ipswich Town match days the pub offers a football menu for a quick pre-match bite to eat and on warm days there is a large outside seating area. 

One reviewer said: "Had an excellent Sunday roast with the family. Staff were warm and accommodating and the crowd, both two-legged and four-legged, were having a great time."

4. The Fat Cat

The Fat Cat is a small pub serving up to 15 ales served straight from the cask in the taproom. 

One reviewer said: "Honestly one of the best local pubs in Ipswich, cannot praise them enough."

If you want to have more than just a pint and some food, the pub also sells its own merchandise including hoodies.

A traditional family friendly pub with history dating back to the 17th Century. 

The Halberd Inn is just a short walk away from Christchurch Park making it ideal for a post walk meal. 

One person said: "Despite often being busy you can easily get a drink and there's plenty of food on offer."
