A licensing application has been submitted for a new off licence which is set to open in a former café near Christchurch Park.
Penalty Off Licence is set to open at 2 St Margaret's Plain in Ipswich, which was most recently the home of Arkana Coffee.
Arkana Coffee opened in February last year, but announced they were closing suddenly in January this year.
They stated it was with "heavy hearts" that they closed, with a reason for closure not being provided.
Now, the premises will be turned into an off licence.
A licence application was submitted for the supply of alcohol off the premises.
This would allow the shop to sell alcohol from 9am to 10pm Sunday to Thursday, and from 9am to 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
Ipswich Borough Council licensing committee is to discuss the application in due course, with representations open until April 25.
