A multi-million pound logistics warehouse is nearing completion off the A14 at Great Blakenham, near Ipswich.

Bosses at Hemisphere Freight Services say they are excited as work continues apace at the 243,511sq ft facility at Suffolk Port One Logistics Park. 

Cladding is up, flooring poured and racking is in full flow. It will provide 35,536 racked pallet locations stacked nine levels high.

A total of 10,000 pallet spaces are due to be handed over in around a week's time.

The facility also includes 8,000 bulk-loaded pallets on floors and mezzanines allowing space for kitting, barcoding, and quality control.

There will be eight dock levellers, a 7.5-tonne hydraulic lift to move cargo and people to the the mezzanines.

The scheme includes 59 car parking spaces, EV charging for 12 vehicles and triple-storey offices covering 6,600sq ft.

The company already runs a warehousing service at several sites including White House Road in Ipswich, Felixstowe, Liverpool and London Heathrow.

Hemisphere director Louis Perrin said the new development was a "significant" step forward and showed the firm's commitment to cutting carbon in the supply chain.

“We are pleased to see the progress on this important development – it's truly exciting to see our vision taking shape," he said.

"We're eager to embark on this journey and can't wait to get the facility open.

Developer Curzon De Vere said it was "proud" to be working on the landmark project for Hemisphere.
