A mental health charity is on the hunt for volunteers for an annual daring obstacle course fundraiser.

Suffolk Mind, the county's mental health charity, is hosting a daring challenge of crossing a path of broken glass, sizzling hot coals and thousands of Lego bricks.

This is for the charity's annual 'A Walk of Glass and Fire' event to be held outside Suffolk Food Hall near Ipswich on Sunday, May 19.

In a new twist this year, junior walkers aged between five and 12, are invited to cross a veritable 'Lego river' composed of more than 20,000 bricks.

Brave walkers of ages 12 and older who want to go the extra mile have the option to face the entire treble ordeal in exchange for an extra donation that night.

Jon Neal, chief executive of Suffolk Mind, said: “Every penny raised through this event goes directly to helping us meet the increasing demand for our support across Suffolk as people struggle with the cost of living and face a long wait for statutory services.

“Of course this year is extra special as we’re building up towards our Lego walk – giving children under 12 the opportunity to join in the fun for the first time.

"You could say I’m ‘bricking it’ about trying it myself though after all the times I’ve stepped on my children’s Lego.

“As always a huge thank you goes out to our friends at UK Firewalk and our fantastic sponsors A&B Glass.

"We are all looking forward to some flaming good fun.”
