Plans for two new homes near Ipswich town centre have been submitted to the council for a second time.

The applicants EMLEN are seeking permission to convert a vacant officer building at 2a Turret Lane, by the Old Cattle Market bus station, into two flats.

An application was initially made last year but Ipswich Borough Council refused the permission to go ahead last September.

In a notice explaining its decision, the council said that as the building adjoins the rear of 12 Lower Brook Street, a Grade II listed building, it could not give the conversion permission to go ahead.

To this, the applicants claim that their proposal would not change the external face of the building, and hence there would be no harm to the listed building.

EMLEN say they plan to make only internal renovations to the building.

They plan to make the ground floor a one-bedroom flat complete with a kitchen, bathroom and living space, while the first-floor flat would have allocated two double bedrooms.
