Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash which left a Suffolk road closed and caused oil to spill on the carriageway.

Emergency services were called to the A1071 between Hintlesham and Hadleigh at about 8.10am on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said one ambulance was sent to the scene to check over a man and woman.

Both were taken to Ipswich Hospital for further assessments and care.

Their conditions are not known at this time and police have not confirmed the vehicles that were involved.

According to Hadleigh police, the crash caused a large oil spill and the road was closed.

Drivers were being asked to find alternative routes while the road was shut.
