A 26-year-old woman who was stalked by an Ipswich man has told a court that she was forced to move home five times to get away from him.

In a statement read to Ipswich Crown Court, the woman said she was fearful for her life and that wherever she moved he had always found her.

She said that Kyle Wiggins had “stalked, harassed, gaslighted, intimidated, emotionally blackmailed and love-bombed” her and she feared he would never give up trying to contact her.

“I have never been in a relationship with him and never will be,” she said.

She said Wiggins was obsessed with her and had formed a delusion they had a life together.

Wiggins, 26, of Clapgate Lane, was found guilty by a jury after a trial at Ipswich Crown Court in March of stalking the victim between October 2022 and April 2023.

During the trial the court heard that Wiggins, who has no previous convictions, had become obsessed with the woman after they had a brief relationship in 2017 which resulted in the birth of a child.

The woman told the court that she felt “bombarded” by messages from Wiggins, who would tell her that he loved her and thought he should be living together with her and their child.

The woman said she had made it clear that while she wanted Wiggins to have a positive relationship with his child, she did not wish to be in a romantic relationship with him.

Wiggins appeared at his sentencing hearing via a prison video link but walked out before it started, claiming that he was in a relationship with the victim and had done nothing wrong.

Judge David Wilson rejected a defence application for a further psychiatric report to be prepared on Wiggins and jailed him for 40 months in his absence.

He said Wiggins had brought “misery” to the victim’s life and had repeatedly failed to heed warnings to stay away from her.

"He feels as though he is the victim in this case,” said the judge.

He banned him from contacting the victim and her family for 10 years.
