Suffolk Building Society will move out of its current branch as part of relocation plans.

The Society has been in the Grade II listed Mutual House at Princes Street, since 2008, back when it used to be called Ipswich Building Society

They aim to relocate to a new branch around the Ipswich town centre that would be not far from their current location.

The society said that they will make sure the new branch is easy to find and will be focused on finding a place to meet face-to-face with their members to discuss savings and access to cash.

chief executive officer at Suffolk Building Society Richard Norrington said: “Mutual House has been a good location for the Society for many years, but we feel a new owner could make better use of the entire building.

“Our members and the public will see the ‘for sale’ sign outside the building in the near future. We want to reassure everyone that we are very much committed to new premises in the town centre.

“We firmly believe in traditional branches for those who value face-to-face customer service. This complements our new online service, launched late last year."

No decision has been made yet on the society's new location.
