Westerfield railway station is one of the least used stations in the country according to data from On Time Trains.
The village station just north of Ipswich is located on the branch line to Felixstowe and limited services on the East Suffolk Line to Lowestoft.
However, according to the data over the last six months the station - which opened in June 1859 - has only been the 2,283rd busiest station in the country out of a total of 2,632.
The data has also revealed that so far this year there have been a daily average of 46 entrance and exits at the station, with 15 daily interchanges.
This is an increase on previous years - with 39 daily entrance and exits and 13 interchanges last year - while the figures for 2022 were 36 and 12 respectively.
In contrast, Derby Road station in Ipswich is the 1,787th busiest station and Ipswich's main station the 169th with 8,297 entries and exits per day.
A survey of households living close to the station conducted last year by East Suffolk Travel Association showed that local residents cited concerns about the frequency of services, parking, footpath access and reliability as to why they didn't use services from the station more often.
A Greater Anglia spokesperson said: “Westerfield is served mainly by Greater Anglia services between Ipswich and Felixstowe, along with some Ipswich to Lowestoft services, all operated with our high quality, new trains.
“Figures from the Office of Rail and Road show that the number of journeys starting or finishing at Westerfield has increased by 18% in the past year.
“When compared to pre-pandemic levels, the station has seen an increase in footfall of more than 40%.
“We will continue to build on recent positive developments, in partnership with the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership, to encourage more people to explore the benefits of travelling by train.
”We therefore expect a bright future for rail travel to and from Westerfield station.”
