Ex Ipswich star Marcus Stewart joins March of the Day 2

Ex-Blues striker Marcus Stewart will be joined former Town captain and friend Matt Holland as well as other former players as they set to raise money for the Darby Rimmer Foundation, a charity dedicated to motor neurone disease (MND).

The group will depart Wembley at 9am on Friday and hope to cross the line at Portman Road at 6pm on Sunday.

Last year, Stewart came together with former Liverpool and Bradford right-back Stephen Darby, as both players live with MND.

Stephen Darby (centre) and Marcus Stewart (right) started the event in 2024 (Image: March of the Day) This year's edition of March of the Day will see more than 800 walkers take the 176-mile journey stopping at 25 different clubs' grounds, including Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Charlton Athletic, Braintree, Colchester United and finally Ipswich.

A core team of 24 walkers will be split into groups of six, who will in turn taken on each stage.

The core team includes Stewart's wife Louise and Steph Houghton, former England women's captain and wife of Darby.

"Last year we had so many people from Ipswich Town reach out and say that if we held one around Portman Road then they would take part. 

"They couldn't do enough for us really, opening the ground and the fan zone, they are expecting 1,000 fans to welcome us as we come in."

"We are both really excited this time around, last time we knew a few people in the team but after spending a whole weekend 24/7 you get to know everyone really well.

"We know what to expect a bit more and can prepare for it, we had the worst of the weather last year so it can't be any worse and certainly not any hillier."
