Ipswich Town is set to play against Norwich City this weekend in one of football's most intense derby games.

Across the town, there are many pubs ready and raring to welcome Ipswich fans for pre-match drinks, as well as those looking to watch the game.

Here are just some of the top pubs for Ipswich supporters.

A short walk from the Portman Road Stadium is the Thomas Wolsey pub, which is a family-friendly staple for many home fans.

Ahead of Town's return to the Championship, the Wolsey built a new bar on the first floor, extended their opening times, and added a new "speedy food offering" from Mylo's Pizza.

This will allow fans to meet and have some pre-game drinks ahead of the midday kick-off, as well as during, with the game being shown on multiple screens at the pub.

The Greyhound

Just under a mile from Portman Road is The Greyhound, another hit with fans before, during, and after the game.

As well as the indoor seating and bar area, there is also a large beer garden, which becomes a sea of blue on game days.

Ahead of Sunday's game, The Greyhound will be serving a range of breakfast baps from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Shamrock

The Shamrock is another pub in Ipswich that is popular with fans, and it is set to open from 10.30am for Sunday's game.

As well as being a place to get a pre-game Guinness, they will also be showing the game in the pub.

With four bars, you won't have to worry about waiting to get your pre-game drink at Isaacs, which will be open from 8am.

From 8am they will be serving breakfast and hot drinks, with the bar opening at 9am, and live coverage of the game on their big screens.

If you are heading to Portman Road to watch the game, then it is only a 25-minute walk along the waterfront.

The Cock and Pye

Another Ipswich pub preparing for Sunday's derby game is The Cock and Pye, which is also opening at 8am, serving breakfast for eager fans.

The pub, which is one of Ipswich's oldest, recently underwent a six-figure refurbishment, with a completely new interior, while retaining the original frontage.

And most importantly, large TVs are showing live sports, so you can be sure to catch the game.
